The Angeleno-gone-Berliner lends the next in sequence to the Amadeus catalog. AMA019, Huerta’s Amaso EP, will be release for physical consumption January the 19th.
Following standout 12”s in 2018 via Berlin’s beloved Slow Life imprint as well as Mandar’s Oscillat Music, Huerta's style and artistic development, of which can be attributed to his move across the pond, is heard most clearly in A-side helping “Amaso.” The track is dosed with the signature soundcapey-ness we’ve become so accustomed to. Only to be listened to in-full, “Amaso’s” linear drumwork is further complimented by it’s panned pad lines and drifting atmospheric bubbles which are sprinkled throughout its almost 7minute runtime. A2’s “Fake Leather Whatever” would make any Wamdue Project fan ecstatic. The tune evokes a nostalgic feeling, marrying a timeless breakbeat rhythm with cosmic pads and blissful piano melodies, giving it all the necessary ingredients for a set closer.
On the flip you’ll find ” Don’t Be Gentle It’s A Rental,” the drum-tool-bside-fantasy akin to Huerta’s most recent tech house driven productions. Terry Lee Brown Jr. would approve, “Don’t Be Gentle It’s A Rental” is what well-aged club music should sound like. EP closer and quite possibly our favorite Huerta tune to date, “Reverse Thread,” is built for the closed-eye-clubber's ecstasy-fueled dreamscape. Swung 808 percussion, soft melody lines and an overhanging synth line reminiscent of early Boards Of Canada work, “Reverse Thread” is the adult’s lullaby.
